Theory on daylight
Natural light is a dynamic and ephemeral tool for expressing the quality of architectural space. Architectural space can be effected by using daylight. Contrast is important to the definition of space and it is essential in understanding how architecture is enhanced and transformed over time by the dynamic and variable characteristics of daylight.A further significance of daylight as a creative tool in architecture is that it has moods, which are able to infuse physical things with a metaphysical spirit, and can totally alter the character of a building. Daylight is always changing and moving, and it is spontaneous and unpredictable. its qualities at any moment are never quite the same as the moment before or the moment to follow. This is no accident: daylighting is a magic ingredient in architecture, bringing dynamism to static structure, imbuing buildings with a sense of time. Good daylight control can bring dynamism to a building.
